“MIA CULPA”

SOME THINGS YOU JUST COULD NEVER PLAN AS WELL AS WHAT “JUST HAPPENS” TO HAPPEN! I BELIEVE THERE ARE NO ACCIDENTS IN THIS WORLD. MATT MARGUCCI JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN PRIOR RECORDING SESSION AT THE STUDIO THE DAY I WAS TO RECORD THIS SONG!

The most interesting aspect to this song was that the day I was to record it in the studio, my producer ended up doing a morning session with this wonderful accordion and trumpet player who was willing to stay over for my session, and create the powerful Spanish flavor that this song cried for in its presentation.

Matt Margucci, a renowned accordion and trumpet player, just happened to be at the recording studio on an earlier session. His instrumental music made this song come to life. I was so pleased with the sound. The Spanish flavor I could not achieve was suddenly “right there.” His added flavors became the magic of the piece of work. We also decided to actually record the song like the Grateful Dead with no rush just letting the music roll. I figured people listening would mainly be in their cars or trucks so why not let this music just flow. Michael’s mom, Pat, says, this one is her favorite. She loves the song’s sensuality and thoughts.

SANTANA WAS MY INFLUENCE MUSICALLY. I LOVE HIS WORK!!!

I had been listening to a Santana song in the gym that just fueled me heart, where he is talking about his Maria, much like a song of Madonna’s years ago about her Spanish lover. And I thought, oh if I could just capture this sexuality, and flavor of those two songs, which capture the hot-blooded Latino music, in my own work. I wanted it to almost be dangerous, the lover. I wanted to express the idea that these two intimate beings can not stay away from each other; that their moments together are precious, and filled with fire.

MY LIVING EXPERIENCE IN ACULPULCO GAVE ME MY LOVE FOR SPANISH MUSIC, DANCING ALL NIGHT IN THOSE “DISCOS” TO THOSE LATIN SONGS.

I spent several months in Acapulco years ago. Well, not that many years ago! Anyway, my girlfriend was dating this man who had a home down there. She invited me to go along. He lived in New York, and I don’t think he even showed up there for about three months. But I had been living in Las Vegas, and was about due for a change. So, we stayed. Then she left, but I still stayed. He said he was glad someone was living in his house and using his staff. I had a ball! The discos were open all night, and I danced nightly until the sun came up. What an exciting time!

HOW I MET HUGH HEFNER!!! WHOA! I NEVER SAW GIRLS WITH SO MUCH MAKE UP ON IN MY LIFE AS THOSE FEMALES THAT WERE WITH HIM!

I met Hugh Hefner, and all the girls had so much make-up on. I was like, whoa. I was all tan, and just wearing these darling little, I mean little, outfits. Those were the days. But that Latin music reached into your entire body and soul.

I WAS TREATED AS A GUEST IN PUERTO VALLARTA FOR TWO INCREDIBLE WEEKS BY THE MAYOR OF THAT CITY AND HIS WIFE AND THE HEAD OF THE LABOR UNIONS OF MEXICO AND HIS LOVELY WIFE! I WISHED I COULD HAVE STAYED FOREVER!

Then I also was invited as the guest of the mayor and his wife to Puerto Vallarta, and again I stayed for quite sometime. I lived in Encino, CA, which was their sister city, and these people had stayed in my home. Well, they treated me like a princess. I could not even pay for a coca-cola. So, again, I found a love for the Spanish music and the culture, and even the cockfights.

LISTEN TO REAL SPANISH MUSIC ON SATURDAY NIGHTS ON PUBLIC RADIO!

Sometimes Michael and I get in the car on late Saturday nights, put the top down, if it is not raining, and listen to the Public Radio station that plays really Latin music!!! It is beautiful!!!

MICHAEL AND I SHARE A PASSION FOR ALL SPANISH INFLUENCES, INCLUDING THEIR FOOD. HOT PEPPERS AND FRESH SALSA ARE ALWAYS ON OUR TABLE.

Michael and I cook home made beans every week; I make homemade tortillas, every week; and we grow our own hot peppers, which we then pickle them. A jar of these delicacies sit, on our table along with hot sauce and a fresh salsa. So, we definitely have some hot blood in us somewhere.

LET YOUR DESIRES IN YOUR HEART FLOURISH. GO FOR YOUR DREAMS AND ALLOW YOUR PASSIONS TO COME TO LIFE!!!

Anyway, I hope you all allow this song to fill your blood with desires of your hearts, and that your passions come to life. Have a beautiful day! And ENJOY EVERY MOMENT!

Love Always,
